74-Year-Old Man Arrested For Bringing ‘Special’ Cookies To Church And Getting Everyone High

Some people go to church hoping that they would find enlightenment. However, not all of us have the same definition of the word enlightenment.

While for some that may signify finding the purpose of life, for others it may just be getting high as a kite.

Yep, you’ve read it right.

It seems that you can never know what might happen to you at church.

At least that was the case for a few congregation members at the St. John’s Apostle Catholic Church in Bloomington, Indiana two years ago. Six of these people, aged from 12 to 70 ended up in a hospital after trying cookies at the church and experiencing strange, adverse effects.

Because what started as an innocent brunch at the church, ended up very bad for some of the people that tried these ‘special’ cookies.

As it turned out, the cookies were made by a 74-year-old parishioner, known as Mr. Jones, who was accused of baking the THC cookies. Shortly after the incident, he admitted to making the cookies but denied that he added an illegal substance in them.

The police didn’t believe a word he said, so they obtained a warrant to search his home. And guess what? They successfully found what they were looking for. In his home, there was an orange, pill bottle that contained a few capsules of brown, oily substance which was later tested. The results showed that it was marijuana.

The gentleman wasn’t left with much choice, so he finally decided to turn himself in. He faced charges of possession of hash oil and criminal recklessness.

“We are praying for everyone involved,” said Father Daniel Mahan of the church. “We are praying for Mr. Jones. We are keeping in prayer those who took ill that Sunday and we are praying for justice with mercy.”

What do you think? Would you dare to try them?
