A deep-green chlorite bracelet that has been officially recognized as the oldest bracelet ever discovered has been found in a Siberian cave in the Altai region and archaeologists say that it belonged to the Denisovans, a long-extinct human race.

The bracelet was made from chlorite, a mineral that was not present anywhere in the vicinity of the cave, and that can be located 200km away. As the research team which worked on understanding the puzzle of this bracelet says, the fact that the bracelet was made of such material points to a high possibility that it belonged to a member of the higher class, perhaps a princess.

However, the most puzzling thing about the bracelet is the craftsmanship that is involved in it. The bracelet was crafted with such level of skill and expertise which has been accepted to have been present to a much more recent period than that.

Perhaps the most mysterious element of the bracelet is the hole which has been drilled with such precision pointing to advanced technology that can be only found in the high-rotation drills that are used today.

Anatoly Derevyanko, Director of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography in Novosibirsk describes the bracelet as “stunning,” reflecting the sun rays in bright sunlight and casting a deep shade of green at night by the fire.

The bracelet dates back to 40,000 years in the past, and this makes it the “oldest bracelet ever found,” according to Russian experts. The level of craftsmanship suggests that the Denisovans were much more technologically evolved than the Neanderthals, although it is not clear how they could achieve creating such thing bearing in mind how capable humans of that time have been considered.
