Our Guide to Staying Healthy this Summer

SHARE

Typically, summer involves a lot of hiking, camping, swimming and other outdoor adventures. But this year, people will be spending way more time indoors than normal, and staying on the healthy path can be a bit of a challenge — especially with the endless urge to plop on the couch for another Netflix binge session.

But even at home, you have a lot of options to help you stay on the path to fitness success. Here are 3 ways to stay grounded and healthy this summer.

Meditation & Yoga

Consider this a two-for-one — meditation and yoga go hand in hand. Meditation is a great way to enter mindfulness of the present, to feel your body and how it reacts to stillness. Even 15 minutes of meditation — even guided by a YouTube video — will help you clear your mind and give it a break from the relentless worry we face in the new normal of lockdown.

Yoga is a more intense version of meditation, one that involves actual physical exercise through deep breathing and stretching. For years, many cultures have sworn by the practice of yoga and today its practiced by the world’s most famous people.

A key to getting through trying times is the release of endorphins and you don’t need to deadlift 200 lbs or run 5 km to enjoy the feeling of a mild workout.

Everyone knows that the best way to release endorphins is through exercise and yoga proves that you don’t need back-breaking or marathon-level exercise; just a bit of daily activity to get the blood flowing.

Cannabis-Infused Tea & Edibles

Everyone likes to relax after a hard day’s work, but rather than cracking a beer or mixing a margarita, why not consider some all-natural edibles or exclusive tea blends coming soon from Olli Brands to help you relax at day’s end?

Cannabidiol — or CBD —is one of the two major compounds found in cannabis. While THC — the other compound — produces a psychotropic high, and often leads to side effects such as ‘the munchies’, CBD instead acts as a relaxing agent, instilling feelings of calm and mild euphoria.

Fish Oil Supplements

Studies prove that supplements such as fish oil can be as effective as an over-the-counter medication in reducing the pain and inflammation caused by arthritis. It’s also a safer alternative to many medications as it’s an all-natural substance.

Fish oil also lowers heart disease, improves skin health, and helps stave off impairments to vision. Whether you take fish oil as a supplement, or you incorporate fish into your weekly meals, the omega-3 boost from this wonder food will help you on the road to staying healthy. Enjoy cod, mackerel, salmon, basa, or any other of your favorites for dinner, and you’re already on the right track.

This summer, we’re all dealing with additional stress, but rather than give in to the chaos, why not rethink your habits and re-dedicate yourself to a healthy routine. 15 minutes of meditation, a cup of CBD-infused tea, and a salmon dinner can go a long way!
