Taking your first vacation as a couple is a big step. However loved-up you are, nothing is quite as full of potential pitfalls, speedbumps, and complete disaster as the first time you go on vacation together, alone and as a couple!
Now, that’s not to say that the first vacation isn’t special. Heading off as a couple to an exotic destination for the first time can be a truly magical experience, and one of the best things you will do together. You’ll never forget your first trip! But there are a few things you need to know, and a few things to watch out for on your first getaway together.
So before departing to Ensenada or heading off to Hawaii, here are a few things to keep in mind to ensure that your first vacation as a couple isn’t also your last!

Set a budget
Money can be awkward to talk about, but it is far better to get it out of the way in the planning stages than to have uncomfortable moments when you are on the road. Set a budget you are both comfortable and stick to it…unless you both decide to splurge spontaneously on something romantic!
Plan time together AND apart
Sure, it’s a couple’s vacation, but you don’t have to spend every minute together! Having some downtime away from each other is just as important as planning amazing romantic moments together.
You will want to remember the good times, so make sure you take loads of photos. It is particularly important to share the load, photography-wise, so your memories of the trip are not all of one person on their own! Of course, if you are bringing expensive photography gear along it is vitally important that you have the right bag, something waterproof and secure to keep it all safe. Nothing ruins a couple’s vacation faster than a blame game over a broken piece of kit!
Finally, don’t forget to relax and have a good time! A couple’s vacation is, above all, meant to be an enjoyable experience for bo
