Social Media Went Crazy Over “Man Weaves” For Balding Men

It seems that not only women are interested in hair extensions to evolve their hair look. Men are also becoming more and more curious about trying the new hair trend solution for balding men.

Even though it’s perfectly natural for men to go bald as they age; some still have trouble accepting this fact. And while most men don’t have a problem with their receding hairlines, others have a hard time when they look in the mirror and it affects their confidence.

Such is the case of Robert Jenkins who became extremely worried and depressed when he started balding at 21. He says that he was so ashamed of it that he wouldn’t even go to places and events. 

Luckily, Jenkins and his wife accidentally discovered the Instagram profile of Wade the Barber. His videos of fixing “man weave” were already going viral. They checked his profile and decided to pay him a visit since his barber salon, The W Hair Loft, was located in less than 20 minutes’ drive.   

Finally, he decided to get an appointment and got his “man weave”.

“The results were amazing,” Jenkins says. “I think I was shocked because I hadn’t seen myself with so much hair for so long. I really didn’t know how to take it.” 

At first, Jenkins was worried whether his new-installed hair would look natural and whether his better half would like his new look. But, in Jenkins’ words, she absolutely loved it! This encouraged Jenkins to continue with this process, and he had the “man weave” installed 4 times since then.

 His wife supports him and says she is happy to see him regain his confidence.

“I thought that my hair was just gone forever, that I would never be attractive … This was extremely life changing for me, says Jenkins.

And if you are wondering how much does this process costs – the prices vary from $275 to $800. 

Wade Menendez is the barber behind this “man weave” technique. He has been doing it for 2 years now. At first, he was spending about $1,500 a month on man weaves installing them on just a few clients on a weekly basis.

Now, he spends from $16,000 to $18,000 a month because the number of his clients has drastically increased.

Wade says that at one point he has made $130,000 in just 3 months when he had clients coming from everywhere. He adds that his work is so crazy right now that he spends all his Tuesdays and almost every night in implanting “man weaves”. 

This technique is fairly new, so he even started teaching classes on how this technique is performed.

The duration of the procedure varies from 90 minutes to 2 hours. He does it by attaching a full hair unit with an adhesive and then he styles it.

Additionally, he started to install beards to men who couldn’t grow it the way they would like their beard to be. This procedure will cost you $700. 

On the other hand, Wade has also started helping those in need. He offered his services to cancer support groups and other organizations which may benefit from this. He says that he wants to live a blessed life and help the less fortunate.

This Guy Is A Professional Cuddler And He Actually Charges Strangers For His Soothing Cuddles

Do you like cuddling? And if you do, how often do you cuddle? Everybody loves cuddling to a certain extent. Some may not need it as much as others do, but in essence, everybody needs it. The fact is that touch is one of the sincerest forms of human interaction.

And as much as touch has been used for and associated with its unhealthy, abusive side, touch has also a nurturing side to it. Cuddling is purely based on touch and it focuses on this nurturing side.

In a world that has become very cold, and where distance is more appreciated than closeness, it would be very hard for someone to imagine cuddling with a total stranger. However, it’s this same distance that we have created to destroy us.

But how would you feel if you went for a cuddle with a cuddling professional? Cuddlist is one of the companies which deal with professional cuddling. They explain that “touch plays an important role in building social connections and most of us don’t get enough touch in our lives.”

What they propose as a solution to our isolation from one another is some cuddling therapy, which can serve for a much greater good than you can imagine. You can compare it to “Free Hugs”, the difference being that professional cuddling comes with a company behind it, certified cuddlists, and an hourly rate of 80$.

The Cuddling Therapy Experience

Business Insider UK’s producer Claudia Romeo went to try cuddling therapy and see how it feels for herself. As she explains, each session starts by setting some ground rules, after which she gets to choose what cuddling position would be most comfortable for her.

“As a first timer, becoming relaxed wasn’t easy,” explains Claudia. “It’s pretty awkward. It gets better with time though.” What they did was entirely up to Claudia. She explains she got to decide whether to move around or just stick to one position.

At the end, her voice was a bit down and she felt very relaxed. “It felt very, very, very short even though it was actually an hour. I genuinely felt it lasted around 20 minutes, which is surprising considering I was hugging a stranger.”

The science behind cuddling

Humans are dependent on closeness and touch. You may not feel a conscious need for it, but the lack of touch could be devastating in the long run. Touch is, as Psychology Today puts it, a fundamental mode of human interaction.

This mode of interaction bears its primary role of stimulating the release of oxytocin, the hormone of love and attachment. It is a very important hormone which affects the way we interact with others.

Psychology Today explains that oxytocin underlies trust and is a great antidote to depressive feelings. It is the hormone which allows people to create attachment and bonding on different levels.

A study done by doctors at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and the University of South Florida notes that oxytocin is “increasingly recognized as an important regulator of human social behaviors, including social decision making, evaluating and responding to social stimuli, mediating social interactions, and forming social memories.”

The study suggests that a disbalance in the oxytocin levels in our bodies may be “a common factor important in multiple psychiatric disorders such as autism, schizophrenia, mood and anxiety disorders.”

And indeed, oxytocin is a very important hormone that is best stimulated by hugs, kisses, sex, birth, and breastfeeding, and cuddles. Of course, you will get only hugs and cuddles from these certified cuddling professionals, which is something many lack nowadays.

Cuddling is something that can bring a lot of relaxation and calmness in your lives. And while we’re at it, do it more with those you love and feel close to your heart. Give them more hugs, kiss them more often, and don’t be ashamed to show genuine affection and emotion.

Parents Still Lose Sleep Worrying About Their Adult Children

You don’t need a study to tell you that parents worry about their kids. And if you are a parent yourself, you know from experience how many sleepless nights you’ve spent worrying about your children.

Your worries might vary from what are they going to eat tomorrow and if they will pass their school tests to their success further in the future, like their college degree, job search, and marriage.

However, if you are an adult, and your parents are still calling you to make sure you eat well, or you are home safe – you are not alone.

A new study suggests that parents not only worry about their children when they are young, but they continue to worry about them even when they are past their adolescent age and are well-formed adults. Moreover, the reasons behind this worry differ from men to women.

Amber J. Seidel, Ph.D., of Penn State York in Pennsylvania, is the researcher behind this study. And the reason why she decided to do it is that she firmly believes in the importance of family relationships: their support and love.

“I feel that many share this value, yet I think much of the socialization in our culture focuses on family when children are younger,” she said for CBS News. “I seek to study topics that help us understand how family continues to be a central part of our lives throughout adulthood, and I encourage considering family-level influences in all situations.”

The study included 186 heterosexual married couples with two or three adult children. On average, the men were about 58 years old, and the women close to 57.

The parents were asked to rate on a scale of 1 to 8 (1 – daily; 8 – once a year) the different types of support they provide their adult children with. The types of support included: emotional support, companionship, discussing everyday events, practical help, and financial support.

Furthermore, the parents had to rate the stress level of having to support their adult children, and how much time they spent on worrying about them on a scale of 1 to 5 (1 – not at all; 5 – a great deal).

Additionally, the researchers investigated the amount of sleep the parents got at night. They found that the fathers slept about 6.69 hours on average, while the mothers slept for 6.66 hours.

The results from the study showed that fathers tended to lose sleep when they were worried about the support they provided their adult children with. On the other hand, they slept more when their wives were the ones providing their children’s support.

This issue was not important to the women’s quality of sleep. For the mothers, the stress of having to provide support for their children affected their sleep.

All in all, the results of the study are that the mere act of giving support is what troubled the men while stressing over the support is what afflicted the women.

Seidel converses that the reason behind this may be because of how much involved parents are in their adult children’s lives nowadays. In today’s era of smartphones and technology, parents are able to get closer insights on their children’s whereabouts and what is going on in their lives. They become more curious about their children’s lives and thus more concerned and stressed.

Regardless of the reason, high-stress levels can cause negative consequences on the person’s physical and emotional well-being.

According to Seidel, the problem is not that we are stressed in our lives; the problem is that sometimes we are not able to deal with it accordingly, which leads to immune suppression.

Parents can help themselves to overcome the stress by changing their eating habits to healthier choices, exercising more, spending time in nature, and so on. Also, they need to choose the level of involvement they will have in their grown children’s lives.

They need to ask themselves if they are providing their children with the right things: Are they supporting them by believing in them, or by controlling them constantly and stressing over any minor issue?

21 Google Search Options You Didn’t Know About That Could Save You Tons Of Time

Even if you use it as most people do, you will be able to reach whatever you need very easily. But did you know that there are some tricks that can lead you directly to what you are looking for?

These tricks can save you tons of precious time, which you can use to search some more things, or go outside and take a walk in the sun. Your decisions may vary, but these 21 search tricks are here to stay if you learn to remember them and use them regularly.

  1. Search with an image

We mostly use Google’s search option by writing something in. But what happens when you see a really good photo and you want to know the author or the place it was taken?

Simply type images.google.com and start searching by image. By clicking the camera icon, you can paste the image link or upload your image and find similar images, as well as information about the image itself.

  1. Customize your image search

When you are searching for a particular type of image, Google has the option that will allow you to do just that, without needing to scroll down and pick them as they come.

Just below the search box, on the right, you will find Tools. Click here and select the “Type” dropdown list – and you get to choose whatever you are looking for. Here you can also choose between size, color, the time it was published or its copyright status.

It’s good when you know exactly what word you need. It’s bad when you aren’t sure if that’s the only word you can use in such context, and if perhaps other similar words could yield the results you need as well. It’s then best to use the synonym search option.

This will not give you a list of synonyms. It will instead search for any synonyms of that word that are included in the results. Simply type ~keyword, and you will get all the synonyms for that keyword in the results as well.

You’ve been to a website that really triggers your interest, so you want to read more info about it. Simply write info:www.website.com and Google will give you all information it has on it.

  1. Open a cached version of a website

Websites, as much as nobody wants that, can crash sometimes. And while this may be a problem for the website, it shouldn’t be a problem for you to read from it. Google keeps cached versions of the websites, and to open it, you need to write cache:website.

Going to your favorite dictionary is nice, but it’s much quicker to simply let Google define the word for you. Write define:word in the search box, and you will get all the definitions you need.

And Google can be your calculator too! Just type “calculator” in the search box, and you’re good to go.

Think of any conversion, and Google will do it. Centimeters to inches, grams to ounces, Celsius to Fahrenheit, miles to kilometers… and that’s what you really need to type in the search box to get the conversion option.

Scientists Say: Children Need Microbes — Not Antibiotics — To Develop Immunity

You can never be too careful when you want to provide your child with a good quality of life. And perhaps this is why parents nowadays tend to freak around every possible nuisance that could potentially harm their child.

The question is, how careful should we really be and what does it mean to be careful? Most parents would agree that caring for the safety of their child means keeping them out of harm’s way in every possible way.

And this includes what has become our obsession to hyper-sanitize everything they touch – from the floors they walk on, to the playgrounds we bring them to. It seems that our obsession with germs has finally got the best of us.

In fact, parents are ready to go to such extents as to pay extra money for germ-free entertainment centers and deny them from playing in the dirt like kids used to do since forever. They buy expensive sterilizers, sanitizers, antibacterial soaps, and even give their children liberal doses of antibiotics (just to be on the safe side?).

However, microbiologists suggest that this is, in fact, the worst we can do for their health. Marie-Claire Arrieta, an assistant professor at the University of Calgary, and esteemed microbiologist Brett Finlay are the authors of a book called Let Them Eat Dirt: Saving Our Children from an Oversanitized World.

Concerned about the negative effects over-sanitization can have on the child’s health, the authors explain that microbes are essential to the creation of our immune system and that they shouldn’t be eliminated.

In an interview with The Star, Arietta explains that microbes kick-start the immune system of the newborn’s otherwise germ-free body. By producing molecules and substances that interact with the cells in our guts and with the immune cells on the other side of the lining, the germs “literally train them” to respond adequately to the presence of germs.

In the absence of these very necessary germs, our immune system cells wouldn’t have the necessary information to do their job, and would thus be unprepared when more harmful germs enter the body.

Research shows that our efforts to eliminate the germs from our children’s lives have been correlated with the rise of allergies, obesity, inflammatory bowel disease, and even autism. And this is simply due to the lack of training our immune system receives because of the elimination of germs early in life.

Arietta notes that some studies have even found that by cleaning everything that goes into your baby’s mouth, you increase their chances of asthma. “The incidence of developing asthma is decreased if the pacifier is cleaned in the parent’s mouth.”

All this, of course, doesn’t mean that you should put a spoonful of mud in their breakfast. Regular hygiene is essential: “We should not stop washing our hands, but we should do it at a time when it is effective at preventing disease spread — before we eat and after using the restroom. Any other time it is not necessary,” Arietta explains.

Don’t be too afraid to let your baby play with your dog, or your child to play in the dirt and get all muddy. In fact, encourage them to spend more time outside and be in touch with the natural ecosystem that they need to create in their bodies.

13 Things You Can Learn From People With True Integrity

Integrity is perhaps the most important trait that one could possess. It’s a set of habits and moral values that make for the most successful and strongest people in the world. Unfortunately, it seems that integrity has become a rare trait in a world of people who are trying to be liked by others at the cost of their true identity and values.

Although some people are born with this trait, it doesn’t necessarily mean that one cannot learn to practice it. It’s because doing these things means following your truest nature and goodness inside and respecting that of those around you.

So, here are 13 things that people with true integrity possess:

  1. Valuing other people’s time

People with true integrity value their own time, and they value that of those around them. They are aware that everybody has a lot of things on their hands and that nobody will do them for them.

They respect the time you have dedicated to them and they will never hold you up. On the contrary, if they see that you are beginning to sacrifice your time for them, they will urge you to go on with whatever you must do and thank you for the precious time you have spent with them.

  1. Giving credit where it’s due

They will never think of taking credit for the things they haven’t done. Instead, they will not only be very grateful if you have helped them and will do everything that you take credit for that.

They don’t like bragging with other people’s successes and attributing them as if they are theirs. They consider this as a very low move and will lose all respect for people who tend to do it.

People with true integrity will never try to be someone else for the sake of people liking them. If you like them, you will like them for who they really are, and if you don’t – well they don’t think that they have to be liked by everyone.

Scientists Found That Labradors May Be Genetically Hungry

If you ever wondered why there are so many chubby Labradors, science has the answer. It turns out that one of the most popular and human-friendly dogs carry genetics that makes them feel hungry all the time.

Labradors are loyal and energetic dogs and they are also known for their intelligence. Namely, they were ranked 7 in Stanley Coren’s The Intelligence of Dogs. They have an advanced ability to learn and they’re used for detection and therapy work. They like humans and we love them because they’re easy to train, they’re playful, but also because of the way they look, of course.

If you’ve ever had a Labrador, you know how greedy they are for food. Whenever you come home, they will welcome you at the door just for the food, even if they just ate. But, there is a scientific reason why they’re always hungry.

A new study claims that Labradors carry a special gene which makes them feel hungry all the time. The obsession with food is a result of a genetic variation, scientists discover. Not all Labradors carry this genetic variation, but a significant number does.

The research that was conducted at the University of Cambridge suggests that this genetic variation might be the only reason why Labradors always want more food and it doesn’t have to do with them being spoiled or the quality of the food they eat.

The study included more than 300 Labradors and their owners. The owners had to fill in a questionnaire about the exercise and food routines of their dogs. It was discovered that owners don’t have anything to do with their dogs being overweight.

The main researcher, Dr. Eleanor Raffan, said that the genetic variation is a common occurrence and the dogs who carry it are impacted significantly. As a result, Labradors are more often overweight compared to other breeds. But, one special type of Labradors has even higher chances to carry this genetic variation.

“It’s not a straightforward picture as the variant is even more common among flat coat retrievers, a breed not previously flagged as being prone to obesity,” Dr. Raffan adds.

The scientists discovered that almost 25% of Labradors have this genetic variation. The so-called POMC made dogs weigh approximately 2 kg more than their counterparts without the genetic variation.

Interestingly, researchers suggest that the exact gene that makes Labradors feel hungry also makes them so friendly and compliant. So, it seems that Labradors are perfect since they’re both cute and chubby and loveable.

However, having an overweight dog might not be only fun and games. It can put the animal to many different health risks, so it might be difficult to make sure your Labrador is both happy and healthy.

A research that’s being carried out at the University of Liverpool has the aim to suggest treatments for ligament damage in Labradors, which is a common condition of overweight dogs.

Researchers are analyzing the bone structure of the breed using advanced technology to learn more about the condition and find a way to overcome the problem. Some future treatments might include specialized implants that would help overweight dogs in their walking.

In any case, owners of overweight Labradors can be sure that it’s not their fault that their dog is fat and most probably, their dog is in the one-quarter that has the genetic variation.

According To Science, Starting Work Before 10AM Equals Torture

Have you been feeling tired and stressed throughout the day for no apparent reason? If you have, the reason could be your working hours – or more precisely, the time you start work.

New research suggests that starting work early in the morning leads to problems even more serious than just that. 

Even if you can manage to wake up easily, the physical act of having to get out of bed is where it gets tricky. And the reason why it is hard is that our bodies are not synchronized to the way modern society is functioning. Meaning, our natural sleeping patterns differ from society’s set working hours.

Some researchers have even compared starting work before 10 am to torture. This is because our bodies work on biological timers, called the Circadian Rhythm. The Circadian Rhythm, or our body clock if you will, is a genetically programmed cycle that controls the main activity of our brain, our energy, the production of hormones, and our perception of time.

Dr. Paul Kelley is a neuroscientist at Oxford University who has recently delved into this topic and has come up with several discoveries that can greatly affect us. He looked into various kinds of modern day torture and found that waking up and going to work before 10 am is one form of torture as well.

According to his findings, forcing the body to wake up earlier than our brain and organs are ready is damaging to our health because it interferes with our body clock. This body clock cannot be changed because it is pre-programmed in the brain.

If we, however, fight against our natural sleeping patterns, it can cause several health issues like sleep deprivation, physical and emotional stress, and this can further lead to more severe health risks.   

He says: “We cannot change our 24-hour rhythms. You cannot learn to get up at a certain time…your liver and your heart have different patterns and you’re asking them to shift two or three hours.”

As a part of an experiment held by Oxford University, Dr. Kelley worked in a school in the UK where he shifted the school’s start time from 8:30 am to 10 am. His findings were that after the adaptation period, students’ attendance levels were raised and their productivity was drastically improved. Their grades also raised by 19%.

So, the question arises: Why do we keep on torturing ourselves?

The principle of working 8 hours a day was created back at the beginning of the 20th century in order for the manufacturers to get the maximum they can from the workers’ productivity. They did not take into account the Circadian Rhythm, the functioning of which is coordinated with sunlight.

Unfortunately, things have not changed since then. We are still mired in that system which is not in tune with our bodies’ natural functions.

Finally, if we get enough sleep – we would be more focused and productive at work. Because, if we were to listen to our body and if we wake up naturally, it would raise our overall happiness levels. Besides, we all know that happy people make the best workers!
